Revenir, 2024

Revenir examines childhood memories of the artist’s mother and the gendered codes communicated through daily beauty rituals. Made from synthetic dreadlock extensions, abaca pulp, wool, silkworm cocoons, and larvae shells, the triptych increases in volume and visual complexity from left to right. Hair traverses the panels and becomes entangled with irregular abaca forms that evoke bodily fragments while remaining anatomically ambiguous. The work returns to an early inheritance of femininity from a present non-binary perspective, reconsidering how those formative experiences continue to shape the self.
